Mail Call For 3.30.23

Another surprising, if considerably lighter, “THUD!” today, though this time it wasn’t because I forgot I’d bought it but because I didn’t expect it to arrive so quickly.

This is only the second original Treasury Edition in my collection, as most of the others are hardcover reprints, like this one.

Would I prefer having a copy in slightly better condition than this one? Sure, but I can’t complain, as I paid a fiar price and having a less-than pristine copy is better than not having one at all. (Even though comics this size are a pain for me to store.)

As a kid, this always struck me as a “versus” that was as uneven as Superman vs. Spider-Man, but back then I could only ever wonder what it was like, as I never saw a Treasury Edition in the wild, and unlike the second Superman and Spider-Man crossover, I never encountered a mass market paperback edition of this (if there was one).

It also stands out in my memory because a parody version of the cover appeared in an issue of Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew, being drawn by BC Comics artist Roger Rodney Rabbit, AKA Captain Carrot.

In any case, I didn’t have it then, but I do have it now, and even sooner than anticipated.
