Some crowdfunded cosplay cover comics landed on my doorstep this morning.
I contributed to this campaign so long ago that I’d pretty much forgotten about it until I got an email a couple of months ago apologizing for the delay in shipment.
Even with that reminder, I hadn’t remembered what rewards I had chosen, but I’m kind of surprised to see that I didn’t opt for copies signed by Ani-Mia, the writer of the comic and model for the main cover. Particularly as I believe the main cause for delay was an error that meant only the unsigned copies had gotten shipped and signed copies were delayed as they would need to be reprinted and shipped to Ani-Mia to sign before being shipped to the recipients.
I was also surprised to see that these were included…
…because I’m not familiar with these cosplayers. Not intended as a slight against them, but if I cheaped out and didn’t opt for signed copies I wouldn’t think that I would have opted for additional variants.
And if I did do that, I’m surprised that I didn’t just go ahead and opt for the metal variants of these issues so that I’d have a full set of covers. Maybe past Jon just wanted to irritate present Jon and his completist tendencies.
Anyway, there are still quite a few things set to arrive, so be sure to check back soon for another Mail Call post.
Born and raised in the sparsely populated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jon Maki developed an enduring love for comics at an early age.
