Earlier, I put a comic I’d sold in the mailbox to begin its journey to its buyer.

A short time later, I heard the postal carrier arriving, and went out to get the mail and to ensure the package had been taken.

It was with great consternation that I looked down and saw that rather than taking it the postal carrier had apparently dropped it on my doorstep. I was about to head out and chase after him when I realized it wasn’t the same package.

“Oh, right,” I thought. “I bought comics.”

I bought comics. They came in the mail. Here they are.

Obviously, when I saw that there was a Dave Stevens variant for this issue that had not been available at my comic shop, I had to order it.

But as it is with Pringles so it is with comics, and I couldn’t stop with just one comic.

Thus, I filled in a small, awkward gap while I was there.

While I did just recently get the first volume of the omnibus collecting Mike Grell’s work on his creation, I do still want to have a complete run of the series in floppies. Besides, these issues are from after his run.

Anyway, I’m glad I didn’t have to chase down the postal carrier, and that the buyer of the comic I sold will get to experience the same joy – hopefully, without the confusion – of a Mail Call.

There are more of those ahead for me – maybe this will be the year that the book I backed on Kickstarter in 2019 will be finished – so check back soon for the next one.
