The keen-eyed obsessives among you – so, you know, none of you – may have noticed a conspicuous absence in the most recent Pull List.

After all, there was something missing that is exactly the sort of thing you’d expect me to buy.

And your expectations would be correct, as I did buy it. Months ago.

And it arrived today.

For the curious among you:

Collects Batman/Captain America #1, Batman/Daredevil #1, Batman/Punisher: Lake of Fire #1, Batman/Spider-Man #1, Daredevil/Batman #1, DC Special Series #27, Darkseid vs. Galactus: The Hunger #1, Green Lantern/Silver Surfer: Unholy Alliances #1, Incredible Hulk vs. Superman #1, Marvel and DC Present Featuring the Uncanny X-Men and the New Teen Titans #1, Marvel Treasury Edition #28, Punisher/Batman: Deadly Knights #1, Silver Surfer/Superman #1, Spider-Man and Batman #1, Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man #1, and Superman/Fantastic Four #1.

I was a bit annoyed that I had to wait until today for this to arrive, given how long ago I preordered it and that it was available at my comic shop on Wednesday.

I should have gotten it through my local comic shop anyway, but I can never be sure they’ll get things like this, and while I could preorder it through them, the moment I see something like this become available I just reflexively go online and preorder I should get better about that.

Anyway, here’s what it looks like without the dustjacket, revealing a John Byrne wraparound cover to complement the main George Pérez cover, which is definitely an appropriate choice for this particular volume.

There’s an accompanying omnibus collecting the Amalgam Comics that resulted from the DC Versus Marvel event that this omnibus is named for coming soon, which I have, of course, preordered, so look for that – and plenty of other things – in a future Mail Call.

Born and raised in the sparsely populated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jon Maki developed an enduring love for comics at an early age.
