Normally, I make Mail Call posts as items arrive, but this time around when the first thing arrived I knew I had other things coming by the end of the week, so I decided to do some consolidation.

Up first is the final ROMnibus volume.

Back cover

The front cover is the same without the dust jacket, but the back cover has a different image.

Up next is…

Well, it was something I was reminded of by a discussion about Hellboy. It was something I originally had but has since been lost to the ages, and while it’s not what you’d call good, it was cheap enough to reacquire it, so I did.

John Byrne’s Babe #1-4

I never had the sequel mini-series, but I figured that while I was at it…

John Byrne’s Babe 2 #1-2

That this features a guest appearance by Abe Sapien is where the Hellboy connection comes into play, as well as the fact that Byrne scripted the first Hellboy mini-series, Hellboy made his first color appearance in a different creator-owned book Byrne was working on, and Byrne incorporated one of his original creations into Hellboy’s origin.

When I ordered the Babe books, I was prompted to pick a free add-on.

I went with this.

Trick or Read 2024 (Spidey and His Amazing Friends)

I may add a scan of the back cover to the Activity Corner.

The passing of renowned artist Greg Hildebrandt made me aware of a Bettie Page variant cover that I didn’t own.

Thus:

Bettie Page #1P

And finally, I was reminded that I didn’t have this and happened to find it on sale.

That’s it for this Mail Call, but there are still plenty of things that will be arriving throughout the remainder of the year and into the next, so check back soon.

Born and raised in the sparsely populated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jon Maki developed an enduring love for comics at an early age.
