Jon Says:

The most amusing thing about this one is that the Black Bag variant didn’t come in a black bag. Whenever that happens, they always apologize to me at the comic shop, as if I’m going to be scandalized by the nudity or as if I keep the cheap bag anyway. I might keep the bag for display purposes if it weren’t so cheap and flimsy, but as they are cheap and flimsy, I just toss them.

Also, my database had the wrong picture, so I had to take a picture of the cover and then Photoshop in a black bag.

Anyway, yes, there will be some virgin variants in a future Mail Call post because of course there will.

The Incredible Hulk, Vol. 1

#181R

Facsimile Edition 2023

Release: Jul 12, 2023

The issue that introduced an icon! Just when you thought a battle between the Incredible Hulk and the Wendigo couldn’t get any more ferocious, the Wolverine crashes the party! It’s the first feature-length appearance of the world’s first and greatest Canadian super hero, who would soon go on to become arguably the most popular and successful member of the X-Men! Encounter the Wolverine for the first time all over again in an action-packed throwdown that establishes a rivalry for the ages between the Jade Giant and the Best There Is! It’s one of the all-time great Marvel comic books, boldly re-presented in its original form, ads and all! Reprinting INCREDIBLE HULK (1968) #181. Rated T

Jon Says:

As I’ve noted many times, I like these facsimile editions.

Also, it was very good timing on this one, what with the recent photo leaks from the set of Deadpool III.

No “Jon Says” on these Knight Terrors comics. It’s a summer event and I’m the kind of chump that DC relies on. It’s a bunch of different creators, so everything is of uneven quality.

The actual Silver Age Teen Titans were a lot of fun. We’ll see how Mark Waid’s version of the Silver Age – as filtered through modern sensibilities mixed with the way he wished things had been back then – compares.
