I like the facsimile editions that DC and Marvel put out and tend to pick them up when I see them, but I don’t always see them.

The other day while looking at my collection I realized that while I had a bit of a run of facsimiles of classic X-Men comics I was missing one, so, after checking to see if there were any copies at the comic shop (nope), I went online to fill that gap.

Of course, while I was there, I couldn’t just stop at buying a single comic, though I also didn’t want to spend a whole lot more money.

I’ve got a kind of lazy collection goal of assembling a complete run of Superman volume 1 from the year I was born (1972) to the year it ended (1986), so I opted to fill a couple of gaps in that goal.

There are still plenty of gaps to fill, particularly from 1972 to 1978, but, as I said, it’s a lazy collecting goal and I’ll get to filling the rest of those gaps when I get to them.

And when I do, the odds are they’ll end up here in a Mail Call post, but before that happens there are bound to be other things that arrive on my doorstep, so check back soon to see what they are.

Born and raised in the sparsely populated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jon Maki developed an enduring love for comics at an early age.
