Today is the day.

I went to my local comic shop, stood in line, won a prize, got some free comics, and picked up some back issues.

While I wasn’t there to see Diana Lee Inosanto, I did see her when she arrived and while she was in the store talking to fans and signing things.

No shade against her, but meeting celebrities isn’t really my thing, so she’s not why I was there.

While in line, for the third year in a row, I won a prize in the raffle.

Last year, it was a Funko Pop, but this time, as I did two years ago, I won a comic sealed in a plastic tomb.

The Avengers vol. 8 #40D
CGC graded 9.8

Once inside, I grabbed some of the free comics on offer.

DC All in / Absolute Universe Special Edition, Spider-Man / Ultimate Universe, Conan the Barbarian
Fantastic Four / X-Men, Superman’s Good Guy Gang Special

And of course, while those comics are free to you and me, comic shops have to pay for them, so I made sure to spend a little money while I was there, opting to reacquire a mini-series I once had that was lost to the ages long ago from the back issue bins.

Granted, it’s not much, but I’m there every week – I was just there on Wednesday – and I didn’t want to spend too much time looking around given how crowded the place was.

The crowd makes me happy for the shop, but anxious for me.

It’s not a major haul, but I’m always happy to go out and do my part to support comics in general and my local comic shop in particular.

As always, special thanks go out to my comic shop, Comic Logic Books & Artwork. Please remember to support your local comic shop, and if you need to find one, click here.
