I actually ventured out into the world today.

Obviously, the only thing that could me to do that would be comics.

First, it was for a signing by artist Jim Calafiore at my local comic shop.

I got some comics signed and got a free sketch of Scandal Savage.

A closer look at the Scandal sketch.

But that’s not all.

I had forgotten/never known* that Calafiore was signing today but was reminded when I saw it mentioned on Facebook, so that wasn’t what originally got me to venture out into the world, it was just a bonus.

What actually got me to leave the house was a Comic Book Club meeting hosted by Brad and Lisa from Comic Book Couples Counseling.

And while the main thing I hauled away from that was a good time discussing Helen of Wyndhorn by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, Mateus Lopes, and Clayton Cowles, I also got pins.

And I kept the discussion guide as a souvenir, though it is a bit worse for wear.

Oh, I also got a new phone and a new smartwatch, but those aren’t comics, so who cares?

Overall, it was a good day and I’m glad I was willing to actually give up on being a shut-in for the day.

I’m looking forward to next month when the topic of discussion will be All Star Superman.

*I knew that he was going to be signing there at some point but kept forgetting to find out the date.

Born and raised in the sparsely populated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jon Maki developed an enduring love for comics at an early age.
