On Comics Twitter over the past couple of months a lot of people have had success finding some great deals on comic omnibuses at Ollie’s, with three books in particular being notable.

There’s an Ollie’s located not far from me, so last weekend I finally decided to make a trip there with hope in my heart.

Unfortunately, things didn’t really pan out. None of the three big deals others had gotten were there, and in the slim pickings available there wasn’t much of anything I was interested in picking up, though I did end up grabbing this:

Harley Quinn: A Rogue’s Gallery
It’s the 25th anniversary of Harley Quinn, and in celebration of this momentous occasion, DC is collecting the best of Harley’s covers from her own solo series, SUICIDE SQUAD and more! Don’t miss this gallery hardcover featuring the work of the best comics artists in the biz!

Which is cool but not really what I was hoping for when I went through the trouble of actually leaving my house.

Still, I did want those books that others have gotten, so I went online and placed some orders, getting deals that weren’t quite as good as the deals people got at Ollie’s, but were still pretty decent.

The first of them arrived today:

Wonder Woman Diana Prince 50th Anniversary Omnibus HC
In these stories from the late 1960s, Wonder Woman leaves her superpowers behind to become an ultra-mod, globe-trotting secret agent. With a new costume and a new attitude, Wonder Woman fights crime like never before! As secret agent Diana Prince, she takes on international crime with the help of her new mentor, the mysterious I Ching.  Collects WONDER WOMAN #178-204, THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD #87 and 105, SUPERMAN’S GIRL FRIEND LOIS LANE #93 and WORLD’S FINEST COMICS #204.

The other two books I’ve ordered are still on their way and will show up in a Mail Call post once they arrive. Of course, they will also bring with them a certain amount of annoyance – beyond the fact that I didn’t get the better deal on the price – which I will explain in that post, so stay tuned!

Born and raised in the sparsely populated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jon Maki developed an enduring love for comics at an early age.
