Mail Call For 10.8.24
I said something big was coming, and I meant it.

And when I say big, I mean BIG.
This book is lorge.

I don’t have a shelf that’s tall enough for it.
From seeing pictures others had posted, I knew it was big, but I didn’t know it was going to be this big.
…
Now, if you’ve exorcised your inner Michael Scott, let’s take a look at some of the glorious pages within.

(Beautiful, inky darkness, and a fantastic use of negative space in depicting the loss of those parents.)

I’d held off on this for a while despite seeing so many other people happily sharing images of their copies, but a post from Ron Randall proved to be the straw that broke my wallet.
Because my wallet is broken, it would be helpful if you’d take a look at some of the other posts here, like some of the other Mail Call posts, and check back often to see what else has arrived on my doorstep.

Born and raised in the sparsely populated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Jon Maki developed an enduring love for comics at an early age.
Wow, that’s amazing! I picked up this book and The Dark Knight Returns out of a bargain bin … well, too long ago for me to admit, frankly, and both of them played a pivotal role in my enjoyment of DC.
I picked up the monthly issues of Year One as it was coming out – if you look at the copy of #404 I used for scale you can see the stains from the house fire we had back then.
I didn’t actually get The Dark Knight Returns until 1989’s Batmania led my local B. Dalton Bookseller to stock up on Batman-related books and I snagged a copy of it from them.
I got a slightly water-damage copy for five bucks from my local comic shop.
